Alexis S.

Bio

Alexis, originally from Missouri, attended Vanderbilt University where she studied neuroscience with a research focus on adolescents with autism. She is currently a first-year student at Harvard Medical School, with interests in pediatrics and cardiology. Prior to medical school, she worked as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor for two years with a passion for creating inclusive fitness spaces.

Alexis has many years of tutoring experience and a genuine passion for teaching. Her goal is to help her students maximize their strengths and create a successful plan to improve upon their weaknesses. She prides herself in taking creative approaches to difficult topics and creating an environment where conversation can be honest and open.  In particular, the MCAT and the topics under the umbrella of it -- including biology, chemistry, psychology, and critical thinking -- are topics Alexis enjoys tutoring at the high school and college levels.

In her free time, Alexis loves going to concerts, getting outdoors, being active, and spending time with friends. You can almost always find her with an americano in her hand and smile on her face.

"Alexis was always well prepared and came with a plan. She was always willing to adjust if there was something I wanted to cover. She moved at a great speed - fast enough to cover all the content but not so quickly that I couldn't follow, and she was good at changing this speed based on my familiarity with the topic. My sessions were always very productive. Alexis was a great tutor and I think our studies went very well. I went into this process not very confident in my understanding of chemistry - especially organic chemistry - and by the time I took the actual MCAT I felt very confident in my abilities. Alexis was always looking for feedback on how our sessions could be structured to be of most benefit to me. It was helpful having her create a general outline of what to do while allowing me to really guide the specific questions/topics we spent the most time on. Alexis was a great tutor and I am happy to chose to go with Cambridge Coaching. I initially chose Cambridge Coaching over other options because I was skeptical of using a freelance tutor and of the all-online companies. While ultimately my tutoring ended up being online due to COVID-19, this did not detract from the experience or my ability to learn. While tutoring comes at an expense wherever you look, I would recommend Cambridge Coaching and thought the preparation I received was worth it."
