Amit hails from the Buffalo, New York area and is happy that the local area code matches his birthday (716). His love affair with mathematics started at a young age and he continued this journey at Yale University, where he graduated with a double major in Mathematics and Economics. Post Yale, Amit worked as a “quant” on Wall Street, where he became an expert in financial risk management. He is currently finishing up a MS in Mathematics at NYU’s Courant Institute.
Amit has a long history of tutoring students of all ages. He was a very popular teaching assistant at NYU (90% “recommend” rating) for calculus and has also tutored high school students as well as younger children. He is noted for being very patient and helping students to believe in their ability to learn the material (with enough work, of course!). He has also taught students statistical and financial risk management to prepare for professional certification exams. Amit tutors math, statistics, probability, economics and physics.
Amit spends the vast majority of his free time with his wife and chasing around his 3 year old daughter and small dog.
