Ana’s fascination with the elements of language is rooted in having grown up in a bilingual Portuguese-American family. Her love for words brought her to major in English and minor in Philosophy at Bates College, from where she graduated Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa, and completed coursework in 15 different academic disciplines. Her interest in interdisciplinary learning led her to complete a Master's in Education in Human Development and Psychology from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She has worked in high school, college, and graduate school settings and occupied roles as a writing tutor, teaching assistant, mentor, internship coach and program assistant.
Ana tutors in the subjects of English, expository writing, creative writing, and college admissions essays. She loves working with students to support their learning at a pace that is comfortable for their current skill level and needs. As an undergraduate at Bates College she was nominated to be a Peer Writing Tutor and completed a rigorous tutor training program. She has worked as an individual writing tutor at the Bates College Peer Writing Center, Harvard Extension School Writing Center, and Petey Greene Program and has extensive experience helping students explore concepts and convey their ideas through written work.
Outside of tutoring she spends her time exploring new voices in contemporary poetry and convincing her friends that the World Cup is the #1 sport on the planet (it is!).
