Andrea is a medical student at Columbia on a mission to change the way we treat breast cancer. Originally from Atlanta, GA, she attended the University of Georgia where she initially planned to turn her lifelong love of college and professional football into a career in sports broadcasting. A freshman seminar class in genetics serendipitously introduced Andrea to the world of precision medicine, leading her to join a research lab investigating the genetic mechanisms of triple negative breast cancer and setting her on a new path to becoming a physician. Andrea is applying into radiation oncology residency where she’ll continue using precision medicine to develop new treatment strategies for breast cancer patients.
Andrea hopes to share her passion for science with the next generation of students so that they develop a strong foundation from which to launch their careers. She has worked with students studying 5th grade science all the way up to medical school students studying for the Step 1 exam.
Outside of medicine, Andrea enjoys cheering on her UGA bulldogs, thrift-shopping around New York City, and planning dinner parties with her friends and family.
