Raised on an Upstate New York street named after the 8th President of United States, Andy came to Cambridge by way of Washington, D.C. Prior to starting at Cambridge Coaching, Andy worked in security policy at the State Department and in broadcast journalism, where each day seemed to be a little more like Veep than House of Cards. He is currently a graduate student at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. He graduated magna cum laude with a degree in International Relations and Journalism from Syracuse University, and has also lived in Beijing, China.
During college, Andy volunteered at a homework help program mentoring at-risk youth. This started a passion for tutoring. He previously tutored clients in the D.C. metro area, coaching them to reach higher scores on standardized tests. His core strengths are in Political Science, Government, History, and Writing, and he specializes in tutoring the GRE.
Outside of tutoring and his own graduate studies, Andy enjoys early morning rowing, riding a vintage 1981 Schwinn World Tourist bicycle, binge-watching Charlie Rose, and hiking in National Parks such as Acadia, Harper’s Ferry, and Shenandoah. In keeping with his love of history and travel, Andy ventured to Egypt and Jamaica this past year.
