Ben grew up near Philadelphia, where easy access to the city’s enormous park system spurred his curiosity about how people change the places they live in. Ben attended Amherst College, majoring in Law, Jurisprudence, and Social Thought and graduating summa cum laude with Phi Beta Kappa honors. His senior thesis about the future of climate change was awarded the Nasser Hussain Prize. After Amherst, he pursued audio-based research in 11 countries with support from National Geographic and a Thomas J. Watson Fellowship. He’ll enter MIT this fall for a Master’s degree in city planning.
Ben works with students to clarify their trajectories — where they’re coming from, and where they’d like to go. He’s helped craft application packages and edited application essays for college and private school admissions. He has special expertise in literature, government, history, philosophy, and current events.
In his spare time, Ben bakes pastries and trains for trail races.
