Born in Scotland and raised in France, Callum is now a very happy resident of NYC. He graduated summa cum laude with a double major in Philosophy and Political science from the University of Exeter, where he was top of his philosophy class and made the deans' honors list. He recently completed his masters in Philosophy at Columbia and is applying to PhD programs in same subject.
At Columbia, he was a teaching assistant for two courses: Introduction to Philosophy and the Philosophy of History. While his areas of research are in the history of philosophy, and social and political philosophy (specifically German idealism and recent continental thought), he also has expertise in philosophy of mind, logic, moral and political theory, and is able to teach all other areas at undergraduate level. His french is indistinguishable from that of a native and he loves teaching the French language, its history and its culture.
Outside the academy, he is a voracious consumer of literature, a surfing enthusiast, a murderer of the classics on his guitar and keen participant in Rethink; an outreach program which brings critical thinking and philosophical ideas to court involved youth in Harlem.
