Cristina A.


Cristina has enjoyed a circuitous path through life, full of learning and adventure. She has a PhD in Linguistics from Harvard, an MS in Cognitive and Decision Sciences from University College London, and BAs in Applied and Computational Mathematics and Linguistics from the University of Southern California. Currently, she works as a forensic linguist, using statistical and machine learning methods to analyze text involved in criminal (eg suicide notes, threat notes) and civil (eg trademarks, patents) cases. She additionally freelances as an editor and proofreader of academic journal papers, job and grant applications, and PhD dissertations for non-native English speakers.

Over the past 15 years, she has tutored elementary through college-aged students in a variety of subjects. Presently, her specialties with Cambridge Coaching include computer science, linguistics, mathematics, software, and statistics. Additionally, she has taught incarcerated women English, coached undergrad and grad students in boxing, and helped offenders on probation and parole study for trade school exams and apply for jobs. 

Cristina loves traveling the world, connecting with people, acquiring new skills, and partaking in adrenaline activities. She recently returned from sailing across the Pacific Ocean on a 34 foot sailboat with two other women.
