Elizabeth G

Elizabeth was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She attended Hunter College, where she majored in Biology and minored in English Literature. There, she discovered her love for research and medicine while working in a cancer metabolism lab. She went on to cultivate her passions at summer research programs at MIT and Rockefeller University. She decided to pursue a dual MD-PhD degree in the hopes of using the knowledge of medicine, as well as the expert mastery of biology and the scientific method, to formulate novel treatments for chronic human diseases. Currently, Elizabeth is a student at NYU School of Medicine’s Medical Scientist Training Program.

Elizabeth has worked with students of all ages and learning styles.  Her areas of expertise as a tutor are biology (including genetics, biochemistry and other upper-level coursework), physics, and chemistry; however, she has extensive experience tutoring middle school and high school students across the range of academic subjects. She also works as a strategy and writing coach in the MD admissions coaching service.

In her free time, Elizabeth enjoys taking dance classes, boxing, traveling, and trying new foods in New York City.

"I worked with Elizabeth for my MD/PhD application cycle. She worked with me on my primary application essays, secondary application essays, and interview preparation. It is almost impossible to describe in words the value she brought to the strength and development of my application. When working on my essays, Elizabeth worked diligently and timely in order to give meaningful and helpful feedback on my various drafts. She also did an amazing job of giving enough feedback for me to make meaningful changes without trying to write my essay for me. By the end of the revision process, both my friends and I could see tangible improvements in my essay, but I still felt as though the essay was 100% mine and 100% reflected my passion for medicine and research. I have no doubt that working with Elizabeth took my application from one that would get lost in the stacks of papers to one that would stand out. When it came to interview preparation, she also did an amazing job preparing me for what was to come. After attending many MD/PhD interviews, I can definitively say that her mock interviews were extremely close to the real thing. The answers that I worked on with her always got positive feedback from interviewers. From the business side of things, Elizabeth never suggested edits or any other cost that was unnecessary. I could customize my desires to my budget and with how my application was going. I did not have to buy a pre-planned package or anything. Elizabeth always worked very efficiently and minimized the costs to me. Thanks to her help, I received more interview invitations than I physically attend and was accepted by multiple MD/PhD programs by Thanksgiving, including one of my dream schools. I'll never know exactly how much of my fortune during this admissions cycle was due to me and how much was due to her coaching, but I can say that it was significant and worth every minute."
