Emily T.


Emily has always had a love of learning. She enjoyed coming early to elementary school for French lessons and math club, asked her middle school math teacher for extra homework, and was the valedictorian of her high school class at Northfield Mount Hermon. She graduated from Princeton University in 2011, with an interdisciplinary major in French and Economics. While at Princeton, she studied abroad in Nantes, France and received the R. Percy Alden Memorial Prize for the best student in French. After college, she worked in consulting and economic research while also taking classes at Harvard. She scored in the 98th percentile on each of the three components of the GRE (170/170 Math, 168/170 Verbal, 5.5/6 Writing) and is now a PhD student at Harvard, where she studies labor economics and econometrics (statistics applied to economics).

Emily loves teaching and has helped students with a range of academic subjects. She was also a horseback riding instructor for many years in high school and early college. From these experiences, she learned that different explanations work better for different students. Her teaching style reflects this, as she works with her students to find the approach that works best for them. Emily is very patient and would love to help students with French, statistics, economics, math, and/or GRE prep.

When not studying, Emily loves reading, running, relaxing with friends and family, and playing with her hilarious cat, Henry.
