Erin K.

Originally from the Washington DC area, Erin has lived in four states and three countries! Erin attended the University of Michigan, where she majored in Environmental Studies. In 2014, Erin was awarded a Fulbright grant to teach English in Rwanda, and had the pleasure of teaching English literature to the amazing students at the Akilah Institute for Women. Erin also coordinated an adult ESOL program New York, where her teaching was rated as "excellent" by the NYC Dept. of Youth and Community Development. She has a Master of Arts in Teaching from Mt. Holyoke College (4.0 GPA, Promising Teacher Scholarship Recipient), certification in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), and an MA license in Elementary Education. Erin currently teaches 3rd grade at a charter school in Dorchester, where she does her best to emulate her idol, Ms. Frizzle.

Erin has been teaching and tutoring since 2010, working with both adult and young learners. Her strengths include English composition and literature, TOEFL and TEFL prep, ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages), MTEL prep, and elementary literacy and math (particularly literacy intervention for young students with reading difficulties). She has four years of teaching experience in a public elementary school, working with students with dyslexia, ADHD, developmental delay, and other learning disabilities.

Outside of her passion for teaching, you can find Erin doing improv comedy, hiking, or dancing salsa at her beloved Havana club in Cambridge!
