Raised in Southern Louisiana, Faiz knows that he can always find a little taste of home by locating the nearest establishment with Tabasco sauce. Faiz graduated summa cum laude and with College Honors from Louisiana State University with a BS in Biological Engineering and a minor in robotics engineering. As an undergrad, Faiz was also a Stamps Scholar and a Goldwater Honorable Mention and spent much of his time learning about the obstacles faced by Louisiana residents due to poverty and coastal erosion as a Louisiana Service and Leadership Scholar. Currently, Faiz is pursuing an MPhil in Applied Biological Anthropology at the University of Cambridge before he plans on pursuing medical school the following year.
Faiz spent one year working as an aftercare director at an elementary school, where he learned to help students through their homework via a Socratic-Method-style approach. As an undergrad, he was the senior most student in his microfluidics research lab and leader of the engineering senior design teams, Faiz also spent time teaching his peers microfluidic chip fabrication, image-processing software, and fluid mechanics as the principles pertained to the lab’s research - leading to published work. Faiz has learned from his past experiences, both within and outside the realm of tutoring, to employ a tutoring style that can best help students better understand the basic sciences & mathematics.
Outside of the academic world, Faiz enjoys hiking & backpacking, traveling to new & foreign cultures, and finding great places to eat!
