Jacob is the only student ever to have graduated from Columbia University with a double Major in Playwriting and Astrophysics. In high school, Jacob was a science nerd, taking college classes in multivariable calculus and quantum mechanics as well as scoring a 5 on 10 different AP tests. At Columbia, he graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa with a 4.0 GPA. He was also a two-time recipient of the King’s Crown Leadership Award for his work in the community. Jacob earned an MFA in Playwriting at NYU Tisch, where he won the Faculty Award and the Sloan Foundation Science Screenwriting Award. He has also been awarded the Jean Kennedy Smith Award from the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
Jacob started tutoring math and science in high school before branching out to English, history and standardized testing as well. In addition to tutoring, he has taught underprivileged kids in New York and the San Francisco Bay area. Coming from a theater background, Jacob specializes in explaining ideas efficiently, connecting with students, and inspiring love for the beauty of new ideas. At Cambridge Coaching, he focuses on weaving together SAT test preparation, college coaching, and academic mentoring. He also tutors the GMAT.
Outside of tutoring, Jacob spends most of his time writing. He is currently working on a movie about a high-tech heist in Silicon Valley as well as a play about global warming and denatured proteins.
