There is always a 95% chance that John is traveling with at least 1 cat at any given time. Besides being a full-time cat lover, John is currently a Quantitative Researcher and Educator in the Chicago area. He graduated from the University of Michigan with a Master’s in Data Science. There, he was a Machine Learning Research Assistant responsible for designing predictive algorithms in Python to evaluate security performances, portfolio risks, and econometric outcomes. One of his ongoing projects is to develop a risk web application in R language to realize the volatilities in US and foreign asset classes, including equities, commodities, and cryptocurrencies.
During his time at Michigan, John was a Statistics and Data Analytics Instructor who taught over 150 undergraduate students. He greatly enjoyed his role in demonstrating theoretical and applied statistical topics, while being able to engage with students in a flipped classroom environment. John has mentored students working on research papers, many of which have been used for undergraduate and graduate applications, as well as for journal publications. He looks forward to helping students learn in the areas of computer science, statistics, finance, economics, business, and more.
On the leisure side, John takes pleasure in playing mahjong.You may also find him training cats on how to keep calm during car rides.
