Hailing from a small town in the Tar Heel State, Johnny spent most of childhood playing defensive back on the football field, and dreaming of a career in science. After years of science fairs, mathematical competitions and clinical hospital shadowing, Johnny has found a passion for medicine, specifically psychiatry. He graduated with Honors from Harvard College earlier this year, with a degree in Chemistry and a minor in Psychology. During his gap years between his undergraduate studies and medical school, Johnny is working as an Associate Consultant at Bain & Co. for the healthcare industry, and has recently spent extensive time preparing and advising for the MCAT.
Johnny has been tutoring and mentoring peers in his community since he was in high school. As an undergraduate student, Johnny was President of the Harvard Black Men’s Forum (BMF), co- directed Harvard’s Franklin Afterschool Enrichment (FASE) Program and was awarded the Harvard PBHA Service Award for his community work. In addition, Johnny has spent a great deal of time performing laboratory research over the past 4 years, in microbiology, organic chemistry and psychology. With Cambridge Coaching, Johnny’s areas of expertise include chemistry, biology, psychology, physics and mathematics, and he especially loves to help students study for the MCAT.
Outside the classroom, Johnny is a huge sports fan and loves exercising in general. He loves a good underdog story – whether it be a new PR on the track, new 1RM in the gym, or new FL high on a MCAT practice exam – and hopes to help you beat the odds in all of your scholastic endeavors!
