Jonah wore a wig as a child. This was not because he was ashamed of his head (although it was both the size and color of a pumpkin); it was because he was dressed as George Washington. Although he no longer regularly dons colonial apparel, Jonah is still an enormous nerd. His passion for learning carried him through high school in San Francisco, California with a 2340 SAT score, including a perfect 800 in reading and writing.
Jonah’s fascination with history has not diminished in the slightest since his days of impersonating America’s first president. He graduated magna cum laude from Brown University with as many history credits as he could fit in his schedule. He specializes in European history of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries and also has broad knowledge of United States and world history. He spent a semester abroad in Europe and almost exploded with joy when he visited the Waterloo battlefield, only to be immediately consumed with sadness when he realized that no one else had ever been made that happy by seeing the south door of Hougoumont (it’s famous, trust him). Jonah is also a highly qualified writer and loves helping students craft great essays for classes or admissions.
Outside of academia, Jonah is a big fan of Star Wars and Harry Potter, enjoys playing guitar and watching baseball (he also works for Major League Baseball Advanced Media), and is writing and illustrating a graphic novel set in (where else?) Napoleonic Europe.
