Kara was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. She is the seventh person in her family to attend the University of Cincinnati, where she studied biomedical science and psychology. Always having been passionate about community health and literacy, she spent her time outside of class in an immunobiology lab researching childhood asthma and working with several local non-profits. She graduated summa cum laude in 2019 and is currently and MD student and 21st Century Scholar at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.
Kara has tutored students of all ages and stages of their education since high school. She spent two years as an undergraduate teaching assistant in biology and microbiology labs. An avid reader and biomedical sciences student, she especially enjoys working on CARS, biology, and biochemistry along with general MCAT preparation strategies. Kara is also very interested in the medical school admissions process. She spent the last admissions cycle as a student interviewer and currently serves in several recruitment positions at Perelman that allow her to work closely with the admissions staff.
In her free time, Kara is currently trying to learn how to play chess (progress is slow) and enjoys working with kids and exploring the city.
