Originally from the Windy City of Chicago, IL, Lauren is a recent graduate of Harvard College, where she graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa with both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in Chemistry. An aspiring physician in underdeveloped countries, she also minored in Spanish and Global Health and Health Policy while at Harvard. Lauren is an avid infectious disease researcher, having worked in Dr. Pardis Sabeti’s lab at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard to develop multiplexed STI diagnostic tests for implementation in West African health clinics. For this work, she was awarded the Thomas T. Hoopes Senior Thesis Prize by Harvard. Lauren is currently studying Pharmacology at the University of Oxford as a US Rhodes Scholar, and hopes to attend medical school afterwards.
Lauren is passionate about using education as a tool to make impactful careers and quality healthcare services more accessible to all communities. To that end, she has significant teaching experience, including being a teaching fellow for Organic Chemistry, Physiology, Biochemistry, and Physics at Harvard, designing and delivering an intensive postgraduate epidemiology and infectious disease modeling course in Sierra Leone, and publishing a comprehensive guidebook on menstrual health. Lauren has experience teaching students of all ages and backgrounds (ranging from elementary to college-aged students), but is particularly well-qualified to tutor topics found in Chemistry, Biology, and the MCAT.
Outside of the classroom, Lauren loves to travel with friends, walk her dogs, fangirl at baseball games (go Cubbies!), and play the piano. More often than not, you can find her staying up until sunrise just chatting with her friends.
