Mariesa is originally from Atlanta, GA; while she has lived in the northeast for over 12 years now, she still tries to maintain her southern charm and cooking skills. Mariesa graduated from Harvard College with a concentration in Human Evolutionary Biology and Citation in Spanish. After graduating and contemplating medicine, she worked as an HIV tester and counselor in a Boston Emergency room, which inspired her to pursue a Masters of Science at the Harvard School of Public Health. After working at a few healthcare tech startups and completing a stint in consulting, she then enrolled at Harvard Business School and completed her MBA this past spring.
Mariesa has worked as a tutor in various contexts, working with middle school, high school, and graduate students. She was a previous GMAT instructor with Kaplan.
Additionally, she has served as an Alumni Interviewer for Harvard College for a number of years. She has also worked with the admissions offices of the Harvard School of Public Health and Harvard Business School as an Office of Diversity Representative and Admissions Ambassador, respectively. She has provided advice and edited a number of essays for applicants to MBA and MPH programs.
In her spare time, you can find Mariesa lifting weights, perfecting her New England cooking skills, and trying extreme activities like skydiving.
