Maya hails from the Greater Boston area, and it’s safe to say she’ll probably be stuck here forever. After attending schools in the area for the majority of her life, she began college at MIT, where in 2018 she obtained a degree in biology and a minor in brain and cognitive sciences. Her primary interests in college were in systems neuroscience, or studying how small populations of cells in the brain influence learning behaviors. She is currently pursuing these interests further just down the road as a graduate student in the neuroscience program at Harvard University, further cementing her in her research career and her Boston-area zip code.
Maya first started tutoring students when she was in high school. She has tutored students on the elementary school, high school, and college levels, in subjects ranging from physics and essay writing, to biochemistry and genetics. She has also tutored several individuals through college and graduate admissions processes.
Outside of the lab, Maya enjoys dancing bhangra (a Punjabi folk dance style), watching television drama, and taking long walks.
