Melanie was born to NY parents, grew up in LA, and feels happiest when she’s living in Paris. After realizing that her favorite part of all her English and history classes was thinking about all the people (and characters), she majored in psychology with the philosophy track at Yale University, where she graduated cum laude, received the Departmental Distinction in Psychology, and was appointed to the executive board of the Psi Chi Honor Society. She completed her MA at Columbia University in French Cultural Studies in Paris, France, worked in activism, strategic communications, and management consulting for several years, and then completed her PhD in Social Psychology at New York University. She has studied, worked, and lectured on her research internationally.
Melanie has been teaching since she was a child. When friends and family would ask Student Melanie “how the test was,” she would respond by saying “fun.” Her goal has always been to make course content, test-taking, and admissions prep as intuitive, successful, and hopefully fun (or at least painless) for her students as it has generally been for her. Melanie has experience teaching all ages and at every level, including students with specific support needs (e.g. foreign-language students and students with learning and other disabilities). At Cambridge Coaching, Melanie specializes in psychology tutoring and college admissions coaching.
In her free time, she does yoga and training circuits, plays with her dog, and works on the manuscript of her first pop psychology book.
