A New Orleans native, Michael grew up on Cajun cooking, southern hospitality, and books from his local library. Elected to Phi Beta Kappa as a junior, he graduated summa cum laude and with College Honors from Louisiana State University with a BS in Chemical Engineering and a BA in Economics. In addition to his academic distinctions, he received numerous accolades recognizing his commitment to the surrounding community, including the Legacy Award, given to a senior for making lasting improvements to future generations of LSU students, and his recent selection as a Phi Kappa Phi Fellow. Currently, Michael is pursuing an MPhil in Health, Medicine, and Society at the University of Cambridge before matriculating at the Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons for medical school.
Michael loves sharing his enthusiasm for learning with students of all ages and backgrounds. Throughout college he served as a Senior Advisor to the YMCA Louisiana Youth & Government program, mentoring high school students while creating professional development workshops and editing college essays. Additionally, he trained and mentored undergraduate students through his genomics research, the results of which are featured in multiple peer-reviewed publications. Michael has over four years of tutoring experience and is eager to help students master their coursework, develop a strategic approach to test preparation, or craft a well-rounded medical school application.
In his free time, Michael enjoys trying exotic recipes, falling in love with fresh novels, and composing music on piano and guitar.
