Storm King prep school valedictorian Michael Sollami attended Trinity College and graduated summa cum laude (3.99/4.0 GPA) holding a BS in both Computer Science and Mathematics. Mike was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa society and received the prestigious Phi Gamma Delta Mathematics Prize .After graduation, he was recruited by the hedge fund industry to apply his mathematical talents to stock markets as a quantitative analyst. Two years afterward, driven by his love of skiing, Mike moved to Wyoming to complete a P.h.D. in Mathematics and Theoretical Computer Science. During his graduate career he also received the Steven Lane Ashley Mathematics Scholarship and UW’s Outstanding Graduate Major Award.
While at graduate school Mike thought university-level mathematics courses for over four years. He particularly loved his time spent lecturing students in classes of multivariate calculus, graph theory, and problem solving. After moving to Boston to work in Stephen Wolfram’s Advanced Research Group, Mike continued teaching at the Wolfram Science Summer School - intense month long research boot camps exploring computational methods across many scientific fields. Additionally, he instructed an elite group of high schoolers at the Mathematica Summer School. Mike's core strengths include all subfields of mathematics and computer science and related test preparation.
Outside of work Mike enjoys building iPhone apps, playing classical piano, and has recently taken up painting watercolor. Most days you can usually find him writing poetry or reading textbooks.
