Pete S.

Bio

Pete is originally from Dallas, Texas (go Cowboys!). He discovered his passion for business in middle school when he realized he could double his lunch money by buying and trading his classmates’ favorite lunch items. He moved to Cambridge in 2008 to study Civil Engineering and Economics at MIT and has studied or worked in Kendall Square ever since. After college he applied his analytical skills at a FinTech startup, where he spent five years as the lead manager for data modeling. He scored in the top 1% of test takers on the GMAT on his quest to attend business school and pioneered his tutoring abilities by coaching himself to a 50-point improvement between his two GMAT test sessions. He is now in the second year of his MBA at the MIT Sloan School of Management.

Pete has extensive tutoring experience. He worked for four years as an after-school tutor for students of all ages in the Boston metro area and tutors introductory statistics to MIT graduate and undergraduate students. His core strength is in GMAT tutoring and he enjoys helping business school applicants reach their full potential in their studies.

In his spare time, Pete enjoys reading good books, especially science fiction novels. You can always ask him about his latest travel adventures with his wife, as they are well on their way to visiting every continent at least once.

Testimonials
  • Testimonial Citation:
"Pete was great at catering questions to my needs, making sure to explain things simply, giving me specific pointers on areas to develop, and being realistic about my test plan. He also had a great positive attitude that really helped me relax. Pete always looked at my study logs before and had practice questions ready to go. We always got through a lot of questions and really focused on the work and areas I needed to practice. I wish I started with Pete and Cambridge instead of starting with Manhattan this was absolutely the best way for me to study, 1:1 and with specific questions/areas of focus to review. Going through a question with Pete helped me to focus more than anything else I did to prepare."
