Serge is a French chemist who grew up in the northeast region of France, before moving to the great city of Lyon where he attended the prestigious Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon. He then moved to the US to pursue a Ph.D. in chemistry at Columbia University in New York City, working mainly on the role of zinc in antibiotic resistance. After graduating, Serge moved to Cambridge for a postdoctoral appointment at Harvard University, where he is working on the use of solar energy to power organic transformations.

Serge has been very active as a teacher, both by being a Teaching Assistant for the General Chemistry classes at Columbia University and also by being a tutor for many undergraduate students at Columbia and NYU in general chemistry, organic and inorganic chemistry. He is always excited to try to motivate students who lost faith in chemistry, by relating what they learn in classes to the real world and to the current advances in top scientific research.

Serge is also a fierce soccer player, and a bass player in an indie rock band who played many iconic venues in NYC and Boston.
