Shawn grew up in Arcadia, California playing basketball and the saxophone in the marching band. In college, he found a love for hip-hop dancing and danced in, choreographed for, and directed teams alongside his studies. Shawn graduated with a B.A. in Integrative Biology with Honors and High Distinction in 2015 from UC Berkeley. He completed his honors thesis on the generation of a large-capacity adenovirus vector for gene therapy. After graduating, he pursued his interest in research and worked a bio-tech company in San Francisco, working on a cure for Hepatitis B. Shawn is currently studying to earn his M.D./M.S. dual degree at Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons.
Shawn has tutored students from the elementary school level all the way up to undergraduate college level. His core strengths are in the SAT, MCAT, Chemistry, Physics, and Biology, and has also served as a Teaching Assistant at Berkeley for Biology and Anatomy.
When not studying, Shawn can be found taking dance class at downtown studios, playing pick-up basketball, or working on his next home-cooking project (he is currently trying to perfect a French baguette recipe).
