Sheri discovered her love for learning in the fourth grade when she starting reading a book a week… which became a book a day by the time she graduated high school on Long Island as valedictorian. Knowing she wanted to keep learning about everything she could, Sheri attended Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut. Sheri was accepted into the five-year intensive BA/MA program, receiving both her Bachelor and Master of Arts in psychology in five years. In addition to receiving the Walkley Prize for excellence in psychology and graduating with a 3.97/4.00, Sheri was accepted to Phi Beta Kappa and Psi Chi, the international honor society in psychology. Sheri considers her unofficial second major to be research; she was intensely involved in two research labs, spending much of her academic time creating research proposals, collecting data, and writing journal articles. She is currently a co-author on three journal articles (one in press and two under review). Sheri graduated from her Master’s program at Wesleyan with a 4.0 GPA. Her psychology Master’s thesis focuses on decision-making cognition, examining how the presentation of options affects the decisions of children and adults. Her thesis was composed of six experiments with over 500 participants and was the result of research that she began her sophomore year of college.
Sheri grew up as the daughter of two teachers, and first became involved with tutoring as a high school student, eager to help her peers with their college test prep. Since then, Sheri worked as a Teaching Assistant at Wesleyan, holding one-on-one tutor sessions with college students and creating exams. Sheri also was an informal educator at a museum, working with children as young as 3 years old. Recently, Sheri tutored and trained college peers on topics ranging from statistics software to essay writing. Her tutoring specialties include SAT/ACT prep, psychology of all levels, argumentative papers, and secondary school subjects.
When Sheri is not neck-deep in research, she is walking around New York City looking for new hidden treasures. She is passionate about exploring, even in her own backyard, always looking for new restaurants, shops, and architecture.
