Sian is originally from the small Caribbean island of Trinidad and Tobago. In May 2021, she graduated from Columbia University with a degree in Computer Science with a minor in Applied Math. During her time at Columbia, she founded a data science startup, participating in multiple computer science-related internships, and engaging in research ranging from computational neuroscience to pure machine learning theory. She is currently pursuing a MSc in Machine Learning at Columbia.
Sian has been tutoring for four years and has worked with students of all ages and learning styles. She was the head teaching assistant for many advanced computer science courses at Columbia. Her core strengths include mathematics, data science and computer science topics such as introductory courses to Python, Algorithms, Advanced Algorithms, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing (NLP), Optimization, Graphical Models, Probabilistic Programming and Stochastic Models.
Outside of her studies, Sian enjoys swimming, bouldering, and film photography.
