Sofia was born and raised in Chicago, where she attended Chicago Public Schools for 13 years. She left the Midwest to attend Princeton University in New Jersey, where she studied Public Policy. In addition, she also completed the pre-medical curriculum. She participated in co-curricular molecular biology research, non-profit consulting, and Club Archery, and also enjoyed the opportunity to study abroad in Tajikistan through the Critical Language Scholarships program. Recently, Sofia served as an alumni interviewer for applicants to Princeton University, and interviewed 10 students during the 2017-2018 application cycle. Meeting with a such diverse group of accomplished students was a wonderful experience, and also helped her to understand interviews from the perspective of an interviewer (rather than an interviewee).
Although she briefly considered taking a gap year, Sofia began medical school immediately after graduation at the Yale School of Medicine in 2017. She is currently a second year student, and enjoys mentoring university students through the med school application process.
Outside of school, Sofia enjoys Pilates, podcasts, and fashion design.
