A yinzer (Pittsburgher, for those who don’t speak Pittsburghese) born and raised, Sonya is a recent graduate from the University of Pittsburgh. She graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa with a BS in Neuroscience and a BA in History and Philosophy of Science as well as minors in Spanish and Chemistry. Some highlights of her undergraduate career were completing her thesis in Traumatic Brain Injury research, serving as president of a cultural organization, and studying abroad in Spain. She is now an MD candidate at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, eager to continue her involvement in free clinics and global health as a medical student.

While at the University of Pittsburgh, Sonya was able to TA for several classes, including Human Physiology and Functional Neuroanatomy. Through another test prep firm, Sonya both tutored individuals and taught classes for the MCAT, DAT, and OAT for about two and a half years before joining Cambridge Coaching.

In her spare time, Sonya enjoys dancing, singing, and trying anything artistic that she sees on Pinterest. More than anything, she loves to talk to family, friends, and really anyone who strikes up a conversation!

"Sonya explained the concepts clearly and ran through problems and examples that applied the concepts. She answered all of my son's questions. She also had a great manner. She really built his confidence. Sonya was extremely well-prepared for every session on very difficult material. She communicated with my son before each session to make sure that she knew what he was studying in school. She worked from the same textbook that he used in class so she knew exactly what he was in the process of learning. My son always came back from his tutoring sessions with a much better understanding of the subject matter and also with the confidence to apply what he had learned in his high school class. Sonya was responsive and accessible. She was kind and not intimidating. She really worked well with us in terms of scheduling and with my son in terms of tutoring. We could not have been happier."
