Sophia grew up in Westchester, NY, about an hour north of Manhattan. She attended New York University where she focused on pre-med studies and and graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa with a B.A. in Economics. Sophia particularly enjoyed her thesis work on the effect of healthcare reform on healthcare expenditure and enrollment. She hopes to continue fostering her interest in the intersection of economics and healthcare. Sophia is currently a first year medical student at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and she hopes to one day become a surgeon.
Sophia has been tutoring for five years in a variety of subjects ranging from mathematics to science and MCAT test prep. She has worked with students of all ages, learning styles, and learning objectives. Her major strengths include general chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, and biology, as well as MCAT test preparation in which she received a perfect 528. In addition to tutoring, she has mentored other pre-med students at NYU through the Pre-Health Advisory Board and guided them through the test prep and admissions process.
In her free time, Sophia enjoys reading, exploring all the food NYC has to offer, and going out dancing with her friends in Manhattan.
