He next engaged in a two-year fellowship in South Africa, where he worked in the NGO sector investigating the barriers to care faced by individuals living with HIV/AIDS. Matt holds a BA in Government and Earth Sciences (Dartmouth, magna cum laude). Previously, he worked for the MA state government, and conducted glacial geomorphology research in VT. He is now a JD student at UC Berkeley Law.
