Ash is a native of Queens, New York and will take every opportunity to remind you of its charms. He spent his teenage years crisscrossing the city, attending Hunter College High School. At Harvard College, he fell in love with the classics of social and political theory, majoring in Social Studies and graduating with high honors. After an MPhil in Intellectual History and Political Thought at the University of Cambridge, Ash returned to his beloved hometown for a PhD in Political Science at Columbia. He recently graduated from Yale Law School and is currently completing his dissertation on various topics in legal and constitutional theory before beginning a fellowship at Columbia Law School.
Ash has taught for nearly six years in both academic classrooms and test preparation. He has worked with students from elementary school through graduate school and is comfortable meeting different academic needs and learning styles. Ash has taught test prep for the Hunter Test, SHSAT, SAT, ACT, SAT Subject Tests (US History, Global History, Math IIC), AP Exams (US History, European History, Micro- and Macroeconomics, English Literature and Composition, US Government and Politics), LSAT, and GRE. He also has extensive experience tutoring middle school, high school and college students, and has provided college and law school admissions counseling.
Outside of academic work, Ash likes to read poetry, fiction, and history, weight lift, and cook. He’s currently trying to learn to not hate running and is developing personal lists of the best almond croissants and bookstores in New York City.
