Mike is a Virginia native with a BA in Philosophy and Chinese Studies from the University of Notre Dame. He worked for 3 years in the U.S. Senate at the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission, where he was a researcher and policy analyst on military and defense issues. In 2018, he took a fellowship at the Asia Society Policy Institute, where he continued working as a policy analyst for the U.S.-China relations team under former Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd.
Mike has worked with a wide variety of students, from collegiate athletes to aspiring scholars of international relations. He has used his strong skills in reading and writing (with perfect SAT scores in both) to help students with test prep, critical thinking, and composition.
When he's not writing about international politics, Mike is usually reading Russian literature or playing a few Beatles tunes on the guitar.
