Peter grew up in Southern California and attended the University of California Berkeley, earning his BA in English Literature and graduating Phi Beta Kappa with high honors. He then earned his MA and PhD in English Language and Literatures at Brown University, writing his dissertation on 19th century English literature and intellectual history.
Peter has been teaching classes in expository writing and composition at the high school and college level, and helps students develop and express their personal voice for high school applications, college applications, medical school, law school, and business school essays. Peter also works with students in all manner of English and humanities enrichment, from preparing for an AP History exam to writing a college paper. Putting yourself into words and transcending the generic confinements of a writing prompt can be the most difficult, yet most critical challenge students deal with, and it is rewarding to help students find success in this work.
When he’s not tutoring, Peter writes plays for the stage, film reviews for publications in world cinema, and teaches undergraduate courses in film studies in New York City.
