Pooja spent the first seven years of her life in Massachusetts (enough time to become a loyal Patriots fan) before moving to California with her family. Growing up, Pooja loved playing piano, singing in her choir, and volunteering her time at her community’s hospital, which earned her three consecutive President’s Volunteer Service Awards. She studied Biological Sciences and Psychology at Cornell University, graduating with a dual BA from the College of Arts and Sciences (Phi Beta Kappa). She next matriculated to Weill Cornell Medical College, receiving an MD with Honors in Service for her work with the Weill Cornell Center for Human Rights. Recently, Pooja matched into a pediatric neurology residency at Lurie Children’s Hospital (Northwestern Medicine) - her dream program!
Pooja has been tutoring students of all ages for the past decade. She began her teaching journey in high school, guiding elementary and middle school students through challenging coursework in all subjects. In college, she worked as a Teaching Assistant for the auto-tutorial introductory physics course, as a Senior Study Group Leader for the introductory biology course, and as an academic tutor for the Raising Education Attainment Challenge program. In medical school, she furthered her passion for high-quality education by mentoring high school students from underserved NYC communities in health-related topics, tutoring medical students during their clinical neurology rotations, and serving a year-long term on the Teacher-Learner Committee to facilitate the wellbeing of medical students in the learning environment. Pooja is committed to understanding the needs of each individual student and tailoring her educational approach to meet those needs.
In her spare time, you can find Pooja reading fiction books, walking along the nearest waterfront, trying new recipes from HelloFresh, listening to Taylor Swift (re-recordings only), and searching for her future rescue dog.
